Variety FoodServices was established in Detroit Michigan in 1928 by Norman P Nowak.  Back then we were known as the Tasty Snacks Company.  One of our first endeavors was placing peanut & candy vending machines on the streetcars that were running through the City of Detroit at that time.

Since those rather humble beginnings, Variety has grown to be Michigan’s largest independent vending and cafeteria service provider and is now ranked in the top 3%, based on size, of all vending & food service companies.  Variety is and always has been dedicated to Michigan serving over 400 Michigan clients (Industrial, Institutional and Public) and employing over 300 Michigan residents.  We are completely locally owned and managed and our headquarters is in Warren Michigan.  That’s why we say ‘Saying Yes to Variety, Says Yes to Michigan!’

Variety continues to be a family owned and operated business now in our third generation with six Nowak family members.  We provide all types of business food services including office coffee, vending, catering, and cafeteria services; and have several clients with from 20-5000 employees.

For the past 25 years Variety has been the industry leader in donating food to the needy.  Each year we donate over $100,000 worth of food items to the area’s less fortunate through the Forgotten Harvest & Capuchin Soup Kitchen Programs.

While Variety is in the top 3%, based on size, of food service companies, we are not a large company, especially compared to some of our nation wide competitors.  However, we think our size is one of the biggest advantages of doing business with Variety.  Variety is of the size that we are capable of providing you with any level of service that you need, but can still do it with the personal touch, attention and top management involvement that only a locally run, family owned and operated business can provide.
