EQUIPMENT
Our Equipment Performs at 99.82% Efficiency
We take great pride in our maintenance department
employees and their expertise and skills in vending
machine repair. Each mechanic has had extensive classroom
and on-the-job training in maintaining and repairing
refrigeration systems, heating systems, electrical
circuits/Ohm’s law, and equipment installation.
Our department has 8 National Automatic Merchandising
Association (NAMA) trained vending machine mechanics
who are responsible for maintaining over 2,000 vending
machines and equipment within a 50-mile radius of
Warren Michigan.
Due to Variety's involvement
and commitment to the NAMA training program, plus
our preventive maintenance program, we have significantly
reduced vendor downtime and repeat service calls.
The results are additional sales and customer convenience.
If all this sounds too good, consider the following.
On a typical day of operation at Variety FoodServices,
our vending equipment performs at a 99.82 percent
efficiency rate. Out of approximately 80,079 opportunities
to fail, more than 2,000 vending machines performed
correctly 79,935 times. Unlike other services, Variety's
vending equipment is repaired or
replaced at absolutely
no charge to the customer.

Currency & Dollar
Coin Acceptance
For your convenience, all machines will directly
accept one dollar bills and dollar coins. Machines
can be set to accept five
dollar bills if needed.
Our bill changers pay out dollar coins on large
bills so that you won’t get stuck with a
pocketful of change.
Energy Cost Savings & the
Environment
A typical cold beverage machine uses more energy
than seven residential refrigerators according
to the Environmental
Protection Agency. Variety
offers a power control technology for cold beverage
vending machines that saves 35% to 45%
of the $200
to $400 in annual electricity costs that the machine
consumes. Also rebates are also available by many
utility
companies for the installation of these
devices. .
How it Works
The vending machine uses a Passive Infrared (PIR)
Sensor, allowing it to power down when the area
surrounding it is vacant,
while maintaining the
desired product temperature. The PIR sensor determines
if there is anyone within 15 feet of the machine.
After 15 minutes of vacancy, the machine will completely
power off as long as the compressor is not in operation.
If the compress
or is running, power down is delayed
until the current cycle is completed. During standard
operation of a cold beverage machine,
the compressor
will run through as many as eight cycles within
a two hour period. While the immediate area is
occupied, the
vending machine stays powered and
the compressor operates as it normally would. When
the area around the machine is vacant,
the machine
is powered off and the room temperature is monitored.
Based on this measurement, the vending machine
will
automatically re-power
every 1.5 to 3 hours, running a complete cooling
cycle, and then powers it down again. When a patron
approaches the vending machine while powered down,
their presence is sensed and the machine will power
up immediately.
Cost Savings
Cost savings depends on energy cost per kWh, number
of hours per week the facility is occupied, as
well as the number and
type of machines. Approximate
Annual Savings per machine are:
Each Refrigerated Units $150
Each Non-refrigerated Units $35
Each cold beverage machine using this technology
reduces greenhouse gas emissions by 2200 lbs. of
CO2 and 3600 grams of
NOx each year. (Based on occupancy
and the Environmental Information Administration's
national average of greenhouse gas
emissions and
electricity generation.)
Custom Design Machine Fronts
Variety can install Formica panels on all vending
machines fronts. Formica panels are durable and more
resistant to wear and soil than traditional vinyl
materials. Formica panels are easier to clean and
offer the
flexibility of custom color schemes to
coordinate with your lunch area. This can help to
create a more
pleasant, attractive and enjoyable
dining experience.
Does This Look Familiar?
Have you ever bought a bag of chips or candy from
a vending machine, only to see the item get stuck
dangling from the column instead of dropping down?
This is no longer a problem with our new SureVend
technology. With SureVend, vending machines detect
product hang-ups and automatically correct them or
return your money. Your purchase is guaranteed or
your money back.
